My Client’s Story
My client contacted Lincs Law as they had serious concerns about an employment process they were subjected to by their employer. After receiving a free telephone enquiry, they booked a Fixed Fee Consultation appointment.
Under our Fixed Fee Consultation scheme, I was able to offer my client either a telephone, video, or face to face appointment of unlimited duration but at a fixed cost. During that appointment, I undertook a full assessment of their situation and advised my client they had the ability to pursue Employment Tribunal claims in respect of their treatment.
Within this assessment, I discussed the potential compensation of these claims and identified and advised on the next steps they should take to put them in the best possible position and achieve their desired outcomes.
My client was able to use this advice to negotiate an agreed exit with enhanced compensation. My client was then asked to sign a Settlement Agreement. It is a condition of a Settlement Agreement that the employee takes independent legal advice on the document before it can be signed. I was able to offer my client a Settlement Agreement appointment to provide this independent advice. Again, this appointment was for an unlimited duration but at a fixed cost (which is often met by the employer, if the Agreement is signed.)
After providing my client with the necessary advice, I then assisted them with the signature obligations to ensure the Settlement Agreement was valid and binding.
