Unfortunately, it is not uncommon to speak to individuals who are facing difficulties in the workplace. These can range from their working conditions, performance issues as well as experiencing forms of bullying or harassment. Understandably, any issue that you are experiencing at work can have a huge impact on you. Read on to learn more on what you can do.
Step One: Keep A Diary
Usually, you will experience issues gradually. Therefore, I would recommend you make regular diary entries so that you can keep a log of what has happened and when it has happened. It is surprising at how easy it is to forget specific incidents or dates. By keeping a log, it will certainly strengthen your position.
Step Two: Formal Grievance
It is a good idea to raise your concerns formally. I would advise you do this by submitting a Formal Grievance to your employer, in writing.
Your employer is likely to have a Formal Grievance procedure in place, which will give information on how to do this but, at the very least, an employer should adhere to the ACAS on Disciplinaries and Grievances 2009.
When To Seek Legal Advice
I would recommend you obtain expert legal advice as soon as possible. This will ensure you are fully aware of all of your options and you can also receive expert legal advice along the way which will not only alleviate some of the pressure from you, but it should also help you in feeling more confident that the way you are being treated is unacceptable.
What Clients Have Said
I am very grateful that I have received lovely client feedback over the years. Here are some of the reviews:
“I was in a very difficult place when I first spoke to Lucy. I had minimum experience about employment process and the laws governing employment procedures. Lucy was very professional and put me completely at ease, the best decision I made was to instruct her to act on my behalf. Thank you very much Lucy.”
“Lucy made me feel calm and comfortable and took on board my personal difficulties communicating my issues from the start. Always courteous and professional Lucy was honest and upfront about matters so I always knew where I stood. Just as important for me, I really felt Lucy and her team cared; I wouldn’t have been able to move forward with my life as I have without the dedication, help and support I received. I can’t recommend Lucy and the team highly enough – thank you all guys”
“Accusations regarding my conduct had been made to my employer, by colleagues. My employers were intent upon upholding the allegations rather than finding against them. Lucy gave clear, honest and practical advice throughout. She clearly explained the options available to me. Always professional but friendly and supportive throughout. She did exactly what she said she would do, often ahead of schedule. I would highly recommend Lucy. My experience was highly unpleasant and having the support of Lucy made it bearable. The outcome was better than expected.”
