I was really happy to receive a delicious box of chocolates and an accompanying ‘thank you’ card from a client I have recently represented. Read on to find out more.
When I first met my client they were on sickness absence from work. The nature of their absence was stress/depression following the recent treatment they had received from their line manager. They had a history of depression and, sadly, the circumstances caused my client’s condition to deteriorate. They were unsure on how to move forward or what to do.
Whilst my client had already submitted a Formal Grievance before meeting with me, their employer had failed to acknowledge it. Additionally, I felt there was important information missing from the original Formal Grievance. I therefore recommended I assist by submitting a Supplemental Formal Grievance. On doing this, the employer took notice of my client’s Formal Grievance and they began to investigate it. During the course of the investigation, my client indicated they were ready to leave his employment and he believed he would be successful in securing new employment very quickly. I therefore recommended an offer of settlement be submitted to their employer without delay and as part of the offer, incorporate the termination of their employment.
I am thrilled to confirm that after a little to-ing and fro-ing a settlement was reached with the employer. The amount represented about six months’ gross salary for my client and a good reference. They have since secured new employment and start very soon!
Once we achieved a binding agreement, my client was kind to present me a beautiful box of chocolates and a lovely card which read;
“Thank you so much for your kindness, support and excellent legal advice during my ordeal. I was really happy with the outcome and I’m glad you were my rep!”
