I recently concluded a tricky Settlement Agreement for one of my clients. Read on to see how I helped them significantly better their position in terms of both financial compensation, and drafting improvements…
My Client’s Story
My client contacted me after being offered an agreed exit package from their employer with enhanced terms. Following that initial promise, my client was presented with a Settlement Agreement which sadly contained a settlement figure far lower than originally indicated.
I met with my client for a Settlement Agreement appointment. For more information about this service, see https://lincslaw.co.uk/fees/settlement-agreements/. During this meeting we discussed the circumstances of the Settlement Agreement offer, I advised my client on the terms of the Settlement Agreement (including the claims they were waiving and the money they would receive) and because of their dissatisfaction with the compensation being offered, we discussed funding for additional work. All this advice was then confirmed in writing with my client having time to consider the options we had discussed.
Following our appointment, my client instructed me to negotiate on their behalf. Although it took time, an updated Settlement Agreement was eventually provided which contained a far superior settlement package and included a variety of other drafting improvements.
Feedback from Client
My client was really pleased with the work I completed and provided me with the following 5-star review: –
“I don’t really know where to start!…Sophie’s knowledge and handling of the situation has been nothing but thorough. Sophie has an incredible amount of employment knowledge and uses that to ensure you get the best possible outcome. Sophie always explained all the legal jargon into simplified terms which helped me to better understand the situation I was in.
I would recommend Sophie to anyone needing employment advice either for a small issue or something more complex, she has such a friendly nature and genuinely cared about myself and the situation which is something that’s very hard to find”
