I recently helped a client successfully resolve her complaints of Sexual Harassment and Victimisation at work. Read on to see how I was able to help…
My client was very distressed when she first consulted me about problems she was experiencing at work. I took the time to properly listen to her concerns and advised that based on what she had told me, she could pursue claims of Sexual Harassment & Victimisation against both her employer and the perpetrator of the discrimination.
Before deciding on the best course of action, I discussed funding options with my client. Given that she had no legal expenses insurance or trade union support, she elected to instruct me using a Conditional Fee Agreement. This kind of arrangement enabled my client to instruct me at a reduced hourly rate, with a success fee payable at the conclusion of her claim.
The situation for my client was very delicate and given the particular facts, she did not feel able to return to work. In light of the above, I took the necessary steps to protect her position and negotiate an agreed exit. After just a few weeks, my client received a settlement agreement which provided her with all her notice and holiday pay, a positive reference, a significant ex-gratia compensation payment, along with a sizable contribution to her legal fees.
My client was delighted and provided the following feedback.
What were the circumstances that caused you to look for a legal adviser?
Sexual harassment and discrimination at workplace
