We have just received another Five-Star Review from an Employment Law Client who has provided excellent feedback about the service received. Read on for more information…
Instruction
The circumstances of my instruction were that my client had been offered a Settlement Agreement to leave their employment on agreed terms. General information about Settlement Agreements can be found here at https://lincslaw.co.uk/services/settlement-agreement/.
Service Provided
We offer a Settlement Agreement Fixed Fee Service which includes a choice of a telephone, video or face to face appointment of up to 90 minutes where one of our Employment Solicitors will: –
- Discuss the circumstances of the Settlement Agreement offer from your employer (we will ask you to provide your Contract of Employment and Settlement Agreement. Please note, we would not review any other documentation as part of your Settlement Agreement Fixed Fee);
- Advise you of the terms of the Settlement Agreement from your employer;
- Draw to your attention any potential Employment Tribunal claims being settled; and,
- In the event you choose not to sign the Settlement Agreement, provide an estimate of fees for any additional work. This will include a discussion of possible funding options for negotiation (More information about possible funding is available on this page);
- If you do decide to sign the Settlement Agreement, we arrange for the return of your signed document to your employer; and,
- Confirm their advice in full and in writing so you have a comprehensive record of your discussions.
We know that signing a Settlement Agreement is a very important decision and so it is important to us that our clients fully understand the terms and effects of the Agreement, before deciding to sign.
In this case, the Settlement Agreement provided included provisions that were confusing, but of greater concern, did not properly reflect the compensation I assessed to be reasonable in the circumstances of the case. Consequently, I was instructed to negotiate and liaise with the other parties in the hope of securing a more favourable outcome.
Five Star Review
My client was very pleased with the service they received, and the updated Agreement that was reached. I was delighted to receive the following thoughtful review.
“I came to Sophie in the middle of a really difficult tri-party employment situation, feeling out of my depth and worried I was going to be lowballed on a settlement I knew wasn’t fair. From our very first conversation, she was calm, warm, and completely straightforward – no legal jargon, no scary tactics, just practical advice tailored to what I actually needed.
Sophie was extraordinarily kind and helpful, going over and above, which meant so much, given I was between jobs and in such a stressful time in my personal life. She was proactive in catching issues/changes in the other side’s paperwork that I would never have spotted, pushed firmly but professionally when the negotiation needed it, and always made me feel like she was fighting my corner without ever pressuring me into a decision I wasn’t comfortable with.
She also took the time to explain everything – what different clauses meant, what my realistic options were, and what the risks and trade-offs looked like at every stage. I never felt talked down to or rushed.
In the end I got to a settlement I’m genuinely happy with, more than I was expecting, and I’ve come out of the process feeling supported rather than exhausted. If you’re navigating anything similar, I’d recommend Sophie without hesitation”.
